MY NEW WORKSHOP

A few details on the building.  It is a self supporting arch type of steel building.  In other words, there is no frame work at all.  The arches support themselves and are very strong once it is all bolted together.  The dimensions are 30' X 70' and almost 18' in the center.  The rollup door is 12' wide by 14' high.

Breaking ground! Leveling the ground.
Starting the footings. Setting the forms.
Taking time out to celebrate our birthdays.  Our birthdays are two days apart. Taking more time out to crush a few cars at my friend Dean's in Ridgecrest.
By now it is spring and time to get cracking again. Unfortunately, I did not get any photos of the slab being poured.  Here we are preparing the forms for the stem (retaining) wall.  Total amount of concrete was 84 yards.
The east stem wall has just been poured.  My niece is setting the anchor bolts and doing some touch up. The west stem wall has now been poured.  Once it sets, we can start erecting the arches.
Disaster!  We had managed to get two arches up and tied off the day before.  It was just not strong enough to take the weight of the snow that fell.  About 6" of very wet snow. Had several diversions and could not work much on the building for a couple of months. Once I got going again, it went up pretty fast.  Thanks to lots of help from friends.
Took the crew out to dinner and a bit of relaxation. Nearing completion!
Getting ready to hoist the door into place.  This is a 14' high door so this was no easy task.  It weighed over 600#. All closed up!  All that is left is to add the trim and other finishing touches.
